  breaking mirror shatter and projections

  I’m trying to make a realistic cracking and breaking mirror. I have seen a nice shatter tutorial however the image is not necessarily reflected. The image is stuck and that makes the effect look fake.

  Is this a 3d job?

  Any suggestions?

  Just a thought, but what if you were to use the shatter effect on a white solid and then luma matte it over your footage? Perhaps add some distortion effect to underlying footage and maybe some movement.
