    I have created two textures and loaded them on to two sepertae materials. What I want to do is have my animated object change from one material to the next. Is this possible. If so how?

    There are several ways to do it:

    Two materials-
    * place both materials on object;
    * activate alpha channel in second material;
    * add the color shader to the alpha channel;
    * animate color in alpha from black to white to reveal the underlying material.

    One material-
    Basically do the same thing but using the layer shader in each channel you want to change, i.e., by animating layer visibility.

    In order to do that you have to right-click on the word Layers and choose “show sub-channels” from the context menu. That gives you access to sliders that can be animated.

    you can also keyframe two materials in the Texture tags Material slot. Adam’s methods have a some more control over the speed of the change though since I think the Texture tag method is Linear only

    How do you add the colour shader to the alpha channel?

    How do I change the layer shader in each channel. Is this by using a display tag?
