Monitor Recommendations
Posted by Marc Lucas on May 26, 2011 at 12:06 pmI’m using C4D along with FCP,AE & Photoshop. I can’t justify the price tag of an Apple display but what would you suggest is a good monitor for between £250-£500??
Thanks for any replies

May 26, 2011 at 1:36 pmI bought the cheapest monitors I could find and just go over my work with the Color Correction tools in FCP / PS and no one has ever complained. FCP vectorscope and histogram are all you really need.

May 26, 2011 at 2:01 pmif you want a good monitor look for monitors with an IPS panel (SIPS, HIPS, eIPS) those are generally the better ones. Apple’s are all SIPS panels and while no monitor with an IPS panel is dirt cheap some are not as expensive. Dell has some IPS displays which are not too expensive, there are others. Though as Randy says it may not be necessary depending on your workflow. I would avoid any TN panels though – those are the cheapest with the worst viewing angles.

May 26, 2011 at 9:25 pmIn my own opinion, Apple makes a good product, but face it your paying substantially more for a name rather than a product. I almost hate to say it as I’m not really into large computer manufacturers but HP and Acer make some really good monitors which would suit your needs quite handsomely. I would look into it.
