I have two hard drives at my disposal for a new system. A brand new seagate 7200 rpm 250 GB 3.0/Gb SATA 16 MB chace, and a much older 60GB 7200 rpm 2 MB cache HD.

I want to seek advice on setup. I was thinking on the old drive XP Pro and all the programs, then saving all the projects and media files on the bigger and faster drive. Would this work the best? I plan on doing some DVCPROHD work from P2 cards eventually.
Or do i just put the OS and the media files on the same fast HD

Just trying to figure out the best setup with what i have.

    Thanks!!

You’ll want the bigger/slightly faster drive for media (of course you REALLY want a bigger drive, ideally a small RAID setup, but I’m sure you know that).

Thanks Brendan, yep i know ideally a RAID would be the best. I forgot to mention the smaller drive is an IDE drive. Wasn’t for sure if the drive speed with the programs mattered. Thanks!
