  • Alpha Channel won’t work after exporting into Final Cut or After Effects

Posted by Lee Larkins on February 28, 2011 at 8:51 pm

So I’ve made a 3D text sequence, but not matter what I do I can’t get it to export with a working Alpha Channel!! I clicked the Alpha Channel button in the render settings and changed my Compression Depth to Millions of Colors +. Ideally I’d like to bring it into Final Cut and put it over some video, but I’d be satisfied with it just working in After Effects. Any suggestions from anyone???? Would really like to get this completed today if possible

Is there anything in your scene other than text? Maybe a sky or background object? If not you may have a QT issue. Try exporting as a tif or png sequence.

Also make sure your destination application knows to look for an alpha channel. In AE check interpret footage. In fcp check the alpha attribute.

Make sure in c4d that your generating a straight alpha and AE and fcp are set to look for one.
