  • Move pivot/axis point…have to be editable?

    Hey everyone,

In the process of moving from Maya to C4D and am getting stuck on something very basic. In Maya, as soon as I create a piece of geometry, I usually hold “D” to go into move pivot mode, then hold “C” to enable snapping, and move the pivot to an edge, point, face, whatever. Is there a way to do this in C4D? I’ve seen the axis center menu but it’s not very clear to me. Thank you in advance.

    Best,
    Craig

First, yes, objects have to be editable to move the axis. The workaround is to put non-editable objects inside a null which serves as the pivot.

For editable objects you can move/rotate the axis with the object axis tool and you can then use the regular snap tools. Or you can use Axis Center which is handy for moving the axis to the objects’ bounds.
