    Heya

I am pretty new to the whole ambient occlusion with global illumination to help light a scene, and it seems that when I render I get unwanted noise, when I up the maximum samples it reduces the noise but render time takes a hit, is there anywhere to get round this?

    Cheers

Ambient occlusion is generally used to fake GI because, while it’s a bit slow, it’s faster than GI. It’s kind of overkill to use them both at the same time. Instead, try using the “Details Enhancement” option in the GI>Irradience Cache tab. It performs a simlar function to AO but it’s faster and flicker free.
