Im just getting into rigging so i thought id start with something as simple as a box folding, once i figured that out pretty easily im trying to take it a step further by adding little tabs at on one of the squares that fold over, like a paper dice you would have to glue together would have or something. I have my bones set in, not sure if correctly, do i need to extend the tab bones from the original face bone? ive kinda just added them on top and parented to that face bone…but whenever i weight the tabs the geometry skews pretty intensely, how do i need to set this up to make it work. Scene file attached. c4d r12.

    thank you.

oh and while im at it i was also wondering if i could get any tips and smoothing out the creases, if you fold the box like 50% theres some phong weirdness going on and it kinda snaps at 100% folded, btw before you turn cloth nurbs on take the subdivision down, i had it up before i subdivided the actual polygons for weight painting, thanks again 🙂

just reduce the Phong Angle in the phong tag to control the weirdness

Nice work! Where did you learn how to rig this? I’m familiar with how to do this with the previous versions bone deformer. But haven’t found any good training on what you just did. Any chance you could put together a tutorial?
