    Hello everybody,
Im kind of a noob to 3d compositing in cinema 4d so will appreciate if someone helps out.

I am trying to render a 3d box in c4d lying on my desk. I have exported camera data from boujou and have set up the video as a background texture in c4d. The problem im facing is that when i do a multipass render the background video also shows up in my diffuse channel. I just want only the box with the shadows, AO and GI. Not the bkg video. How do i do that?

Give the BG object a compositing tag and turn off “seen by camera” (or just turn off the BG object). Render with an alpha and comp in the background in post.

thanks a lot adam for responding.
Thing is I also have a floor object. How do I set it up so that it receives shadows and reflections only and does not appear in diffuse channel?

Render reflection and shadow passes and an object buffer for your non-floor objects. So in AE your comp would look like:

    Object buffer
    Rendered output (luma matte>Object buffer)
    Reflection pass (add)
    Shadow pass (multiply)
    Background (AE Solid)
