  • Move a layer in Cinema 4D

Hi folks. I’m new to Cinema 4D, coming from AFX and finding the transition to be pretty difficult. Unfortunately, i’m on a deadline.

What i’m trying to do seems so simple, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Basically, I have a video in the timeline – Currently the video begins to play at 0 seconds on my timline.

I want to move the video so that it begins play at 1 second on my timeline, rather than beginning at 0 seconds. Pretty simple, right?

In AFX this would be so easy… just slide the video layer over 1 second. Not so much in C4D.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Not sure what you mean by “video”. You mean an animated texture?

I guess another way to say it is:

I’m wondering how to begin and/or end a layer at a given point in time.

EDIT – Actually, come to think of it… that’s not another way to say it… that’s another question entirely!

How do I begin or end a layer at a given point in time? In AE this would be easy, just slide the layer end to where you want to cut it off. In C4D… pretty hard.

Yes… it is a video applied to the luminance channel of a texture.

in your Luminance channel click on the name of the movie (the Texture choice), that will take you into the Bitmap Shader Attributes. Set Timing to Range and set your Range Start and Range End for the movie.

I think that did it. Thanks.

Wow… not being able to see it graphically makes it very difficult to do. C4D could really take some lessons from AFX GUI-wise.
