Hi everyone, i’d like some help, i’m a beginner and i am working on a newspaper ad, where i need some 3D done.

I have imported a vector path from Adobe Illustrator, i have extruded this path, now the ends of the object are flat, but i want to bulge them slightly, I have three ideas on how to do this, the first is to use the bulge deformation, the second is using another deformation tool, the third is using a sphere with the same radius and create a bond.

I haven’t succeded with any of those, please help.

It looks like that the reason that the bulge tool doesn’t work is that there is no information on the flat sides, the other areas will bulge o.O

please help – and look at my screenshots, the last image with the sphere is just to illustrate where i want to bulge:

For the bulge deformer to work you need to have some polygons to deform.
To get this you can Change the setting for TYPE in the Caps tab of your extrude nurbs. The default is N-gons. Swap that over to quadrangles and check regular grid.
Then you can place the extrude nurbs and the bulge defomer in a NULL together and adjust the grid as needed.

Randy’s correct about the Caps but I think a Bulge isn’t going to work the way you want. Probably it will be better to make the extrude editable, Connect the parts, Optimize then select the points of the cap and Move using a Soft Selection set to Dome at a radius about equal to the outer diameter.
