    Hi

I’m doing some work on modeling some stage sets and am incorporating some simulated video projectors. I can get a front projected image on a screen perfectly, but i am having trouble creating a material that behaves like a real back projection screen.

A simple simulation would be good in the first instance, but I would also be interested in simulating the fall off in light with increased viewing angles as in real BP screens.

As well as showing the image a BP screen with an image also acts as a soft light source that will illuminate objects in front of it. Is there any way of simulating this as well?

    Best Regards

A texture with an image (or animation) in a layer with a Fresnel in the Color and Luminance channels should give you something like the angle of view change. Fresnel set to Multiply in the Luminance and Screen on the Color channel. Maybe something like this (probably not right but hopefully something to work with). 760_screentest.zip
The soft lighting can be done with GI (since the texture has luminance) or you can fake it with a light behind the screen that shines out onto the surroundings.

Use the Effects>Backlight shader in the luminance channel.
