overlapping planes alpha mask problem
Hi all,
Ok so I have a plane with a material applied containing an image in the luminance channel and a mask in the alpha channel. I’ve duplicated them with a cloner and I’m using the spline effector to modify the position and animate the clones.
There is a problem however with the clones when in some places they overlap. The image itself is fine, but the alpha mask instead of cutting out the object shows through the background color instead when rendered.
I’m guessing this problem is since they’re occupying the same Z-depth. I’ve found that if I move some points of the spline forward slightly this fixes the problem, however I wanted to keep the splines “live” (i.e: not editable)
I’m just wondering if anyone may have a work around?
I also have a problem if I use these same clones above a reflective floor. The floor reflection of the image is fine, but the alpha mask is ignored in the reflection. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Andy
