I have some plans for a Royal Navy 74 gun 3rd rate man of war I have been diving on and need to model it for a museum display.

Anyone know where to start and how?

I have C4d 10.5 but have neglected it for a long time and are really only a beginer in knowledge of C4d.

I thought use the plans to create a symetry of the hull create acube hyper nurb it and move the points but It seems quite daunting and Im short of how to do all this.

I have started by modelling cannons of all her types using admiralty patterns. I need to do the carriages which are posing a few questions but have a simple one done.

I think most of this is just learning what functions do and th ehard bit will be texturing and lighting.
any tips will be greatfully received.
    Regards
    Robin

Polygon modeling something like a ship isn’t easy. I suggest you look for tutorials on car/ship modeling (similary methods). Cinema tutorials would be best but any tutorial that uses poly modeling would be useable (tools are similar accross apps).
