    Hello creative moo’s!

I have footage of some arcing electricity (tesla coil) which I want to use in a 3d environment inside a complex object. Is there a way to make the video a light source so that it illuminates the 3d surfaces without my having to put in a flickering light to simulate it. I have already put the video through a surface luminance channel on a plane but it doesn’t light anything? Seem’s like I’m missing something?

    Thanks in advance

The only way that’s going to work is if you use global illumination.

OTOH, you could put the texture on a light….

Ouch, globals, serious render times for me as the final render needs to be HD video out. I’ll try lights first and then cheat it with timed lighting in unison with the vid and then if all else fails a global illum.

    Thanks Adam

Skylight will take the colour information of any texture and apply to a conreillable light dome.

    Works very well.
