    hey quick question,
I am trying to create the effect of a array of spheres forming into text from left to right…my steps so far:

    1) I created a sphere and a plane
    2) set up a cloner and mapped my spheres to the plane
    3) created a shader effector and a black and white map to map where the spheres appear…
    4) added a random effector, changed falloff to box, and animated the box moving left to right (revealing my shader effected clones)
    5) turned on scene motion blur and rendered

The problem I’m having is when the random effector moves, the spheres don’t move into position, they simply jump from where they were to their position set by the shader…

Any idea how to get the spheres to move into position and not just pop into position? Thanks 🙂

Sounds like you’d be better off using linear falloff for the random effector. Then adjust the size of the falloff to suit. You may also have to change the order of your effectors in the cloner’s effectors list.

got it looking perfect! here’s what I did:

    1) turned the falloff from box to linear…
    2) played with the position, learning the further it is in negative z space, the more spread out the clones become…
    3) also discovered that if you rotate the random effector on y axis and then move in z space, it will add the clones in from left to right (or right to left depending on how the effector is turned)…

thanks so much for your help again 🙂
