  • high contrast shadows from hidden object

    Hey guys,
Im pretty new at C4D still and have been trying to figure this out for myself, looked over a few tutorials and messed with render settings for almost three hours, but just cant get it.

Im trying to render a scene with an existing 3d structure. But I want the final render to just be the shadows on a white background, no object, and extremely high contrast. Jet black shadows with no fading into grey, really crisp lines.

Is this possible? And is it possible you can walk a noob through it?
I would really appreciate any tips!

    Thanks

for your crisp shadows set your lights shadows to Raytraced.
To get an invisible object to cast shadows add a Compositing Tag to the object and in the ‘Tag’ tab there uncheck Seen By Camera. As long as Cast Shadows is still checked (it is by default) it will be invisible but cast shadows.

Thanks! Thats definitely part of what I’m going for, but I still want to see the shadows on the object, just not the object itself. So if the object is a cylinder, all I want to see is the shadow on the ground, and the shadow on the back of the cylinder.

Try putting a compositing background tag on the cylinder as well (and check the “seen by camera” box).
