I realise I am dealing with an ancient version of c4d but I am finding that my new iMac either slows to a crawl or freezes when using metaballs with an emitter.

I am using fairly extreme settings in order to get a decent fluid stream ( hull value : 300% – Subd : 10 )

Any ideas how I can avoid crashes or slowness? I am switching off the metaball while modelling and setting up lighting etc but the second I switch it on, navigating the interface slows dramatically.

I have decided to use the excellent fluid sim in Blender instead as this project is much easier to setup with this app and much quicker to render.

i wonder how you prevent metaballs go through objects. i tried with deflector and dynamics. does someone know how to do that?
