    Ok folks, I need help!

I am using C4D version 8. I am trying to render a 10 second AVI of a little animated scene. Previous test renders have looked pretty, but now that I have everything just how I want it, my final renders are horrible!

The most obvious problem is this:

I am using a gradient shader for my sky and when it renders it is extremely blocky looking, like its only using 16 or 32 colors or something. The rest of my scene looks better but still quite pixelated. I’m stumped.

Basic render settings are (at the moment, I’ve tried almost everything):

    Antialiasing – best
800×600, Film format – computer, No Field render, 30 fps
    AVI Big, 72 DPI

It looks great in the editing window and the picture viewer. I have tried playing it back in Windows media player, Sony vegas and Camtasia and it looks like garbage everywhere but IN C4D.

    All guesses appreciated!

    David

Click on the options button in the render>save dialogue (next to Avi Big) and see what compression codec you’re using and with what settings. Sounds like a compression issue.

Ok, I think that’s going to get me somewhere. I had a mostly succesful render with Quicktime since I posted. The options box is greyed out with “AVI Big”, but gives me compression options if I go to just “AVI”. I will play with it and see what I can get.

    Thanks!
