Epand and shrink with expresso
Hi There,
I’m wanting to do an animation using espresso and user data to create an expanding shrinking object that has 2 cubes sandwiched in between 3 panels (see image).https://www.flickr.com/photos/15278829@N03/3092796864/

Hmm, not sure what your looking for. I think to get that pic you posted I would simply animate a gradiant in the material. Although this example is not materials….
This one is pretty sloppy but I didnt use any iterators so you can see what I did.

Hay Randy I really appreciate your help, I really like what you have done there.
I dip in and out of Cinema so it can seem a bit daunting to me.
What I’m trying to archive is the end blocks stay the same size and the larger center blocks expand and shrink when the end blocks move from side to side.
I’m going to try your suggestions of a gradient to see how it looks.Thanks again, I appreciate it.

There could probably be better ways to do it but FWIW. This one works but only because the numbers are right, it can’t be moved up or down. This one can be moved up and down and it still works. I didn’t worry about X or Z. Both are mods of Randy’s example so they go up and down not sideways but that is easy to change just swap the values to X or Z.

I sat here thinking I should use splines and it just did not click to use a loft nurbs… its always so simple when some one else makes it first. As always its nice to pick apart your files. Thanks.

thanks for your help with this one I really appreciate the work that both of you have put in.It looks great, but what I am after is that the block in the middle stays still and the blocks to the side move like a double sided concertina.
