  C4D Users

  Are the users of Cinema4D mostly people who already know Maya and just want to know another program? Or are you new users who are starting to learn 3d with this program?
  Would I be at a disadvantage in the job market to only know C4D? I live in NYC. I ask because I’ve already been through the troubles of knowing a certain ability, but not knowing the most mainstream widely used program. So basically, while I know how to DO what they want me to do, I can’t do it or not very well on their program.

  I think there’s a wide range of Cinema users — some who use it exclusively, others who moved from Maya and other programs, some who use multiple programs concurrently, etc. Generally the more programs you know the better your chances will be of landing a job, but it all depends. As a freelancer, many of my clients don’t even know or care what program I use.

  I would suggest you check out the employment adds in the NYC area to determine demand. My guess is that there would be plenty of work for Cinema artists as C4D is well represented in the broadcast and ad industries.
