    Hello:

I am an experienced 3D animator, but have not used Cinema 4D before. I now am in the position where I need to learn the program as quickly as possible.

Can anyone please tell what are the best/most popular training resources out there? I’m looking for books, ideally. I’m using version 10, and we don’t seem to have any manuals here.

Searching the forum hasn’t helped, so please don’t recommend that.

    Thanks so much.

Well, personally I would recommend Arndt von Koenigsmarck

I had the same issue coming from Maya and having to learn C4D on the quick tip.

I haven’t found a magic bullet – and I find there is a void of high end training materials for Cinema (in the way you can pick up a book on MEL and get a great understanding of Maya on a nuts and bolts level) but here are some thoughts.

First – you need to load the help system off of the install disk. Then you can right click over any tool and hte manual pops up in the app which is helpful about 60% of the time.

For quick little overviews and lessons on a WIDE variety of things (but not all) cineversity has proven to be very useful.

CmiVFX.com has some training for Cinema 4D. It is good training, however quite long and I’m not sure if their site allows you to skip ahead in the files or not yet. I opted for their download option which allows me to scrub to wherever I am interested without having to wait for the movie to load into the browser. It’s a couple more bucks but worth it.

CGTalk is still a great resource and has a pretty good community of advanced users.

Ko Maruyama (search in google) has done some great tutorials in Cinema.

Linda.com has a bunch of tutorials but I cannot attest as to their quality.

Maxon incuded a rigging tutorial CD with the 10.5 update which I am told is really great.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

    Hey,

Thanks so much for that great wealth of information. Sorry it took me so long to respond, as I’ve been swamped with work. I’m just plugging away with C4D, but I really need some teaching aids.

    Thanks!
