  • Question about C4D RS10 versions

Posted by Whitlock Dunbar on August 18, 2007 at 2:39 pm

I’m REALLY new to C4D; so new I’ve never even used it. I’ve been using After Effects for years now and need to add a 3D app to my arsenal. From what I have heard Cinema 4D is the best choice because of its simpler learning curve and integration with After Effects. Of course I’ll download the trial and buy a book or training CD, but I’m confused over the different versions of the software available.

I doubt we will do much, if any character animation; mostly we’ll be building 3D environments, graphics and objects. Knowing this does anyone have a suggestion on which version we should look at?

I would suggest the base version plus the MoGraph module as the best bang for your buck. Depending on your budget you might also want to add Thinking Particles and Advanced Render.

So you’re able to add modules a la carte?

Yes, you can purchase seperate modules. Or you can purchase ‘bundles’ with pre-selected modules added in. There used to be online videos at the Maxon site showing you the various module features in action. If they’re still there, check them out to see which ones might most apply to you.
