  splitting a part of a poly object off

  I’m trying to model a cell dividing.

  I’ve a multiple part poly that’s PLA’d inside a metanurbs. As half of it separates to make the new cell, I’d like to make it a new object rather than just a selection of the old poly.

  Is this possible or does anyone have a better idea to do this?
