I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m finding little things in R10, that don’t seem to work like they did in R9, or at all.

Case in point, and my question:

In the timeline I want to just ‘show animated’. In R9, I would simply select ‘show animated’, and it would show me only those things that had animation tracks. Now, in R10, it doesn’t seem to be doing the same thing, and doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything. In Help, it tells me that I should be in ‘automatic mode’ for it to just show me items with animation tracks. Thing is, it isn’t.

    Thanks for your help.

If you’re in automatic mode with show animated checked then it should work like show animated did in R9. The only thing is that you might have to go to the main level in the Timeline to see all of your animated stuff (View>Go to main level). For example, you won’t see material animation unless you go up a level from the default.

Personally I prefer the way it worked in 9.x.

Thanks Adam, as always, for your help.

And yes, I wish this, and a few other things, worked like they did in R9.

Change is good, as long as it makes sense.

Ok, I’ve tried what was suggested, and it worked for the rotation, scale & position tracks.

However, it didn’t work for tag animation, like visibility. I’d built an animation in R9, with objects dissolving in using a transition from 0 to 100% visiblity. In R9, I could just select the animtated tags in Object Manager, and they would show in the Timeline. (with ‘link to object manager’)

Man, this is a wee annoying, these little things that were great workflow helpers in R9, that don’t have the same simple functionality in R10.
