    – couple of things about the spline shader
    – it does not really matter where the splines are in relation to the object, the location of the (in this case stripes) is decided in the offset settings in the shader dialog
    – the offsets/scales can go bigger than 100% to get the right coverage
    – Projection (in the Texture Tag) is important – this example uses Flat.
    – in the example the same texture is used on 3 objects but it only lines up because they all have their origins in the same place (in this case 0). If the origins were different, 3 different materials with different offsets would be needed.

    Another way would be to use two Boolean objects – one cuts a gap in your normal text, the other fills this gap with an identical object, but tinted yellow. The only downside is that you have multiple objects that need to stay in sync (should you animate something), but I find it still more controllable than the spline shader. Lastly, the DiTools suite of plugins has a Spline Projector object, that could achieve something similar.
