  • Importing a cinema4d model city into after effects, can i fly around as I please?

Would it be possible to create a city in Cinema 4d, then use After Effects and its cameras to navigate through as I please with the Cinema4d Model?

I guess the main question is, is it possible to import the original model, into after effects, and fly around in 3d Space?

    – Thanks

No, you can export cameras and nulls with 3D data (position/rotation), but you can’t export actual geometry.

Furthermore, why would you want to? AE cams are way harder to navigate and animate with because AE’s 3D tools are rudimentary at best. Let 3D progarms worry about the 3D and let the 2D/2.5D worry about their own. All you have to do is sync the cameras and render out whatever mattes you need for the comp stage.

The whole world of 3D just became 200% more clear now. I was a bit confused with all the talk about importing your rpfs into combusion, and manipulate the geometry there, thought I could do the same with after effects, but guess not, which is okay, Ill do all my fly throughs in Cinema 4d and just add the images and movies using after effects.

    thanks
