I created a star-shaped spline. Then I applied the extrude nurb on it. Now I have this long star-shaped “stick”. Now, I want to bend it so its not fully straight but more upside down “U” shaped. (basically, im trying to create a jack-in-the-box animation where it extrudes forward and then recoils)

I created a Bend deformer and droped it on my extrude nurb. Bending turned everything into a blob. I applied it to the star spline and had a little more control, but it was bending the star, not the extruded part. I THINK I was able to succesfully do this before, but I cant remember what I did. All I want (for the animation) is the extrusion to be straight, then curved, then straight, etc. Bouncy jack-in-the-box style. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

it should work if the star is the first child of your extrude and the bend is the second child
