    Hello,
I’ve been asked to do a light study of how the shadows of a proposed building will affect surrounding existing buildings and I just want to double check I’m using the sun object correctly. On the tag I’ve put in the latitude and longitude of where the building is situated on the world grid. But the Distance is confusing me a bit. Do I need to put in the distance the sun is from the earth (149,600,000 kms) to get a truly accurate shadow map. From playing around with it it the distance doesn’t seem to make any difference to the length of the shadow. I’m sorry if this seems like a bit of a silly question but I need to be sure what I render is someway accurate.

    Thanks a mil
    Donal

You’ll want to use an infinite light source, so the distance shouldn’t matter. Looks best with area shadows too.
