  • Any way to convert .max to .c4d in OS X?

Posted by Scot Walker on January 4, 2006 at 10:38 pm

I have inherited several Reyes CD-ROMs, which are discs with 3DS Max models complete with textures.

The problem is I don’t have 3DS on a PC and I’m using OS X on a Mac. Is there any package or plug-in (preferable) for Cinema 4D that converts .max files to Cinema?

    Thank you!

Only the Okino Polytrans convertor but the costs might not justify the results:

Best would be find someone who has Max and have them export as OBJ to you.

Okino can only convert max file sif 3ds max is installed on that system.
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to convert a max file to anything else wihtout havin max installed.
    Cheers

My suggestion would be to offer $50 on a Max forum and get someone to do the conversion for you as it would be easy for them to load and export as OBJ.

Yeah, good idea. They would, no doubt, keep a copy of each model too, so that’s incentive. Who wants 9 discs worth of free textured models? Anyone? Anyone? 🙂
