  • Sweep Growth % and Align to Spline % don’t match ?

Posted by Filip Vandueren on December 4, 2005 at 9:13 pm

    Hi all,

i’m working on a project in 9.1 with a growing whirlwind-spiral, that has an arrow attached to the end.
    like this:

to animate it I thought it would be simple to Grow a Sweep Nurbs, and have the Arrowhead as a seperate Object following along the sweep-spline with an Align to Spline Path…

The problem is that as stated in the Subject: the Growth percentage is animating different than the Align to Spline.
So if I set Growth to 50% and the Position of the Align-tag to 50%, they don’t line up.

Obviously, I can’t just copy or Xpresso the two percentages together…

I wound up setting keyframes every few frames to line it up by hand, but it just seems strange to me…

    Any thoughts ?

change the Intermediate Points of the spline to Uniform

    Oldie but a goodie.

I was having this problem. I needed to keep the sweep’s spline in subdivided intermediate points to keep it looking good. Xpresso wasn’t allowing the align to spline % to match with the end growth % is the viewport display.

I saw this post and I duplicated the spline and changed the duplicate’s intermediate points to uniform and the Xpresso for the align to spline % started to match the end growth % visually.

    Thanks!
