    Hello,

I’m not quite sure I’m in the right forum but here goes anyway. Im making a documentary on sportsclimbing and I would like to illustrate the different techniques by freezing a frame and then replacing the climber by a mesh-model around which I would travel the camera to highlight different aspects of the climber’s body positioning. Would AE be the right tool for this? and if so would I need a real 3D model of the climber? Anybody with any thoughts…..

AE won’t import obj files and give you that 3d mesh. Sounds like you will be doing a bit of compositing so stick with AE for that. If you know a 3d app, you can downlaod a model, build the 3d elements out and import them into AE for the final composite.
Or, if you know Nuke you can use Nuke and import the obj and do you entire show in Nuke.
Personally I would build out my camera move and 3d model in 4D cinema, import the camera and rendered 3d Elements and comp it in AE.

    Hey,

I’ve been away for some weeks, but thanks for the reply…guess I’d better start learning C4D then…..
