Harbor Freight to the rescue
I’ll probably post this in Cinematography as well (more appropriate there), but thought I’d pass it along in here, too… some might find it useful.
Found myself on location needing a very low but fast dolly shot… faster than I can actually dolly, and much longer than the track we have (I needed to follow a runner in a stadium).
I thought I’d just do it with my Jeep, but being an unanticipated shot we didn’t have any of the gak with us needed to rig a car mount, and certainly nothing that low or in that position.
Trusty ol’ Harbor Freight was nearby and $15 and one trailer-hitch attachment later I had an underslung car mount that worked like a charm.
Great thing is that they have these hitch attachments in various different drops and lengths, etc., and all dirt cheap.

Pretty cool Todd! Not to mention you can pick up your free tape measure, tarp, LED light, screwdrivers, and more with the influx of coupons they send.

I own one of those hitch thingies, and that’s a pretty cool idea. I think they also sell a “bumper step” that plugs into hitch receivers, that makes a little platform you could clamp things to.
