For shows like Tosh.0 does he get permission to use all the YouTube clips on the show?

I have a client that wants to do a spoof spot and web videos using some of the crazy things people will do on YouTube. What’s the current thoughts on using YouTube clips in videos and spots?

Youtube allows users to choose a “creative commons” licence on uploading, and if they do so (and have the rights to the material that they’vee uploaded) then that material can be re-used in accordance with those creative commmons terms. Have a look at www.youtube.com/t/creative_commons

Otherwise normal copyright applies : the rights rest with the rights holder. Sections 6 to 8 of the terms cover this.
