Emergency Stock Footage need
Hi guys…
This is not really really a business question (other than that it pertains to my business)… but I couldn’t decide on the best forum for it, so I stuck it here as I consider this sort of my “home” forum.
If Ron wants to move it to someplace more appropriate and where I might get better responses, that’s sure fine by me.
I’m desperately (and quickly) looking for oil spill stock footage for a project (political commercial, actually).
I can easily find oil spill “hardware” footage, but what I’d really love is a nicely-photographed scene of some rescue worker scrubbing oil off of some suitably-adorable animal (bird or some furry cute creature). This footage does NOT have to be from the current BP unpleasantness.
I’d also love HD 1080 24p, but can’t be too picky.
I’ve scoured all our usual sources and have had minimal luck. I’ve tried our usual suspects, Getty, Istock, and Artbeats… plus a couple others that I was unfamiliar with (and of course, Googled like crazy).
Anyone here have any of those gems of little-known sources I might try?
The clock is ticking… any help would be so much appreciated, as always.

I’ve given them an inquiry. They probably would have exactly what I need… though not being specifically in the stock-footage-for-sale biz I doubt they are set up for instantaneous downloadablility (I literally have a client sitting here waiting, this was a last-second script addition), but might be able to point me to someone who does.

I just typed “oil spill” into the search engine at corbis.com and there’s a couple of possibilities right there for you on the first page of results, including birds & seals.

I’d looked at Corbis in my first search but didn’t see anything apropos. There were some oil spill clips… but nothing like the elusive “awww”-inducing oil-covered critter rescue I’m looking for. It was just a brief look though, I’ll give them another go…

Try PBS. I seem to remember a special on the Exxon incident that had exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t know if they’re set up to sell is as stock though.

That’s probably a good suggestion…
But this was an emergency (i.e. fast) project… now long in the can. It was a production that had to be complete by the morning after my post. I think they’ve even stopped airing it by now.
