    Hi all,

I was jsut wondering if any of you have used the nvidia GTX 8800 with AE and how it performs. I currently have a nvidia quadro fx 1400- and and thinking of getting the GTX 8800 in hopes that it will increase my performance. Any opinions or suggestions?

    Thanks!

    John

You will actually LOSE performance going with this or any other Geforce-based card over your Quadro. Quadro cards have features favorable to content creation that the consumer-focused Geforce cards do not, including superior OpenGL functionality.

I would not recommend switching cards unless you play games more than you use AE or other DCC apps.

    Thank you for your response,

That makes it an easy choice- I’ll stick with what I’ve got. If I want to upgrade, I’ll save up and get a more recent quadro fx video card.

    Thanks so much!

I just got the NVIDIA e-GeForce 8800 GTS card for my computer so that it would run Boris Blue 2.5 and also After Effects….but I have had a hard time getting things to work once it was installed. One day of tweaking everything, and still no luck. Boris refuses to open, and After Effects gives errors.

I have sent a message to the Boris Blue admin to ask about settings which may need to be adjusted, but so far no reply.

I think it may have something to do with my install, because it effected BOTH Boris and After Effects.

If I get it working, I’ll post in here to let you know how good it works…if it ever starts working.

(I have adjusted BIOS, motherboard disabling of on-board video, etc., and still nothing.)
