  AJAX & jquery pop up

  I am working on developing a site where my client requested for his site that, when you click on one of the main links the page requested loads over the main page without navigating away from it. With a close option somewhere on the new page. This page that loads on top has a similar effect to a lightbox gallery for photos.

  I have looked into a few sites that already have it made with a combination of ajax & jquery. But I cannot seem to get it to work.
  Highslide (https://highslide.com/) is the one site I have worked the most with and I just can’t seem to understand what is going wrong on my end. It refers to possibly editing the javascript and I do not understand what it means. I downloaded all the files and tried moving the ones I want specifically to my server and it just will not work.

  If anyone has any advice for me to get this to work, has worked with it before, or knows another way for me to get the effect I need would be much appreciated. Thanks.
