    hi guys,

i’m trying to create an ethereal blue flame effect, similar to what was done in 3d here:
    https://www.renascent.nl/movies/mgs3.mov

i know there has been a thread based around this movie before, but it was more “how was it done”, not “how to do it in ae”. well, there was a little “how to”, but it was mainly for the shatter, not the fire – i’m only interested in the fire. and since the objects that i would like to be on “fire” move, it complicates things.
i haven’t searched for fire tutes/threads yet, because this is a different look. i don’t want flames, what i’m after is more like incredibly fine dust continually streaming off the object, or an aurora borealis streaming off. yes, i’ve looked at the aurora threads and they’re no help in this situation.

is there anything similar to Phoenix for 3DSmax that i could use in after effects? have been trying trapcodes particular (which i use a lot), but can’t seem to create an ethereal fire effect with it.

    Is it similar to yours?
If you want to know how to make it,send an e-mail to me.I can give you the project file.

that’s sort of it. i want to be able to control the flames so that they blow in a specific direction – like there was a very strong breeze, or even a gale – rather than have them emitting in all directions. do you have that level of control with your project?

i’ll post an example of where i am now (using trapcode particular) tomorrow. looks like i’ll need to build up emitters in layers though, to get wisps of flame of various sizes/lengths, and have them interact (ie, give the illusion of depth using overlapping opacities where the wisps cross).

I really like this fire! Could you post the AE project here? I’m sure others want to see it too. If not, please send to peder (.at.) trapcode.com

It’s cool, but it lacks texture on the flames. Perhaps you should use some noise on it.

    Thanks for all the encomiums.

I had never thought It would be so much eulogized. In fact,I got some idea from a tutorial here and a tutarial in Ayato, then I made this effect.

Now I have send the files to everyone above. Please check your email.

I agree with Y.D ‘s objection that this fire lacks texture on the flames.and I’m finding out a way to improve it.

I think the process of building up this file is good for reference.Maybe I shall write down a step-by-step tutorial about it.Then we can find out the way to creat a better and cooler flame. On the other hand it can benefit some other guys who want creat a similar effect as well.Shall I do it?

And If I did it,how could I post a tutatial with some pictures and project files in it?
