Ok, so Im drawing a blank on this one and cant find it in the forums. I need to have a mask in one layer follow a null with tracker data. If I parent the layer to the null the whole thing follows. I need just the mask to follow.
I tried creating an expression for the mask path and pick whipping it to the nulls position but i get an error.I think it wants something in the position value in the expression.
Still not so adept with expressions yet.
    Any clues???

    Thanks in advance

Duplicate the layer and delete the mask on the original. Then parent the duplicate layer to the null and set it as an alpha track matte.

More info – the mask on the duplicated layer should be set to add, and the track matte switch on the layer below it – your original layer- should be Alpha Inverted.

You could also, rather than duplicate the original masked layer, just create a new solid and cut and paste the mask to it – then set it as the track matte and parent it to the null.

    Thanks Joey,
I didnt have alot of luck with the duplicate layer option as it was a luma keyed shadow dancer and the mask is a junk matte.
    Something didnt jive.
Ive got the solid option to work though.
Thanks for the tip.(track mattes are powerful in the hands of the adept)
