I’m looking to purchase my first LCD. I work professionally as a web content manager. I am also an amateur photographer and use the computer for photo editing to create exhibition quality prints. The two monitors I am considering are the NEC 2690 WUXI and the Dell 2209WA (yes, a big difference between the two).

My biggest concern are brightness levels. I have been so used to creating my web pages using a CRT that I’m wondering if the much higher brightness level of a LCD would hinder color production for web work.

Do you know if I can set these monitors for different brightness levels depending on the work I will be doing at the time and how will that affect my calibration settings?

    Or are my fears unfounded?

It’s hard to give any advice on a specific kind of monitor.

I don’t remember having any mayor issues when changed from CRT to LCD. Calibration rules are kind the same in both.
