I submitted my site (for free) in google but after weeks of waiting, I still can’t see my site posted in google. My friend told me that the reason for that is my free hosting. I don’t have a domain of my own. Instead I’m using bravenet’s sub-domain… which made my site something like http://www.mysite.bravehost.com. Is my friend right? Should I get a paid hosting to have my site appear in Google or Yahoo Search engine? thanks.

Yeah I’m pretty sure they only accept top level domains. And, they’d find your site anyway if it was a top level domain. When you do have a top level domain, make sure there is actually some text on the front page for google to read. Many people make flash sites and somehow expect google to be able to read them. It won’t, and therefore won’t index your site.

Thanks! When you say “top level domain,” it’s the opposite of a subdomain, right?

Yeah, blah blah blah – dot com. No slash. If google indexed all the subdomians it would be a bigger mess than it is.
