Activity Forums Web Design (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) Online Poll – how?

  • Posted by Rob Hindley on June 29, 2006 at 2:40 am

I want to create an online poll through php with a results button.

The poll will appear in a pre-determined cell of a table.

I am not a programmer so does anyone know a way to achieve this in the simplest fashion?

I work for a charity (no money) so please don’t suggest a commercial solution.

Oh yes. I am doing the site in GoLive 6.

    hello….

you need some sort of scripting language for this – perl, php, etc…you will need either a database or a flat text file to keep track of the results, and you can find numerous freeware options by doing a google or two:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=php+online+poll+script

hope that helps…you will need some web expertise to implement the solution on your site; otherwise you can look into a remote hosted solution, although that will likely cost you some money….

Check with your web host first. A good one (lunarpages.com) costing all of $6.95 a month has all sorts of scripts available and preconfigured for their servers through their control panel. Everything from forums, shopping carts, polls, email forms, counters, and what not.
