I am using BCC7 on an Avid Media Composer 5.5.1.system. Since the upgrade from 6.0.7 to v 7, I cannot add an Extruded Text Filter to a clip without MC locking up.

Has anyone else had this issue, and if so where might I go to seek a solution.

    Thanks,
    Denny

Make sure to download an update BCC 7.02 from our web site:

    Boris,
It appears that update 6.0.7 is the latest update that appears on the link that you sent. Can you give me a more specific address where I might find it.
    Thanks for the prompt service,
    Denny

I forgot to note in my previous posts that I am on a PC Windows 7 64bit pro platform.
    Thanks,

This page is updated with 7.02 now

I was referring to the trial downloads of 7.02 which can be used as updates too. In any case, please try 7.02 and let us know if it solves your problem.

I updated the program to 7.02, and the problem persists. The other filters seem to work as they are supposed to. I tried one from each group and there were no issues with them (I obviously couldn’t try them all). The 3D was the only group that would crash the system before, and it still does now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are on a dual monitor system, try to switch to single monitor mode. There may also be a driver version mismatch. Perhaps going to our tech support is a good option at this point.

    Hi Dennis,

I believe you need to update to the latest video driver for your graphics card in order to prevent the crashes that you are experiencing. Please give that a shot and let us know how it works for you.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Peter,
Thanks for the reply. As of the Media Composer 5.5.1 release there are only two versions of the driver for the Quadro FX1800 that are certified by Avid. They are 190.38 and 259.77. I already installed the later driver version and it had no effect on the problem.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Denny,

I’m not sure of the exact version of the driver that you need installed sort this out for you but I believe that the problem is a driver issue. I’m going to redirect this to our support group so that someone can spend time with you to sort out the issue.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
