Opening Old FCP Project Containing BorisFX
A client has requested an update of several of their existing videos and has delivered a hard drive containing all the FCP project files and assets created by another posthouse.
These project files were created in FCP 6 and we run 7. In addition to this, the project relied heavily on the whole BorisFX package which we do not use. I downloaded the trial version of BorisFX and can’t get the plugins to work after updating the project file to the v7 format.
To eliminate variables, I booted Snow Leopard from an external hard drive and installed FCP 6 on it. I was able to open the project file without converting, but I still can’t get the plugins to work. The error message I receive is
“AE Effects Error Unable to find plugin “BCC Glitter X.b8″ Do you wish to load plugin from another directory?”
Was this created with an older version of BorisFX? The version I installed does not have that extension. I also can’t seem to find if I can download legacy versions.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
