  BCC Mosaic filter – custom tiles

  Hi all,
  I’m playing with the BCC Mosaic filter in AE and looking to create shapes a little more specific than the random tiling it’s generating. Does anybody know if there is this element of control, or am I completely at the mercy of whatever it wants to throw up. For example, I can get the obvious 4 sided completely square tiles, hexagons possible? octagons?..

  Hi Rob,

  The Mosaic filter can only generate square tile shapes. To achieve the look that you want, try using the BCC 2D Particles filter. You can use the custom shape option to generate a look with any shape that you want. If you need assistance with setting up the effect, please feel free to ask and I’ll help you out.
