    Hi there,
I’m working on a quick 15 second project with a deadline of six this evening.
I have some shots I need to stabilize. A slightly shaky zoom out and a wobbly pan.
I can use Mocha, but I thought I’d try the Boris Plug. I’ve got Continuum and have never tried the smoother plug.

Will you let me know of your experiences?

    Thanks

    Mike,

Why don’t you give it a try yourself. It only takes a few seconds to apply BCC Optical Stabilizer filter. Whether you need to lock the shot or smooth camera pan, BCC filter will do best quality job. Options for zoom and rotation are included. Let us know what you think…

Time was an issue. Had a five O’clock deadline.

I did try it and it didn’t work as well as I had hoped.

What I finally did was make a new sequence in Final Cut with the one shot and use Core Melt to smooth it. Then I rendered it and dropped it in the time line.

I still spent 45 minutes tweaking it. Kept getting Jigglies at the beginning of the shot.

The Boris filter hardly changed anything. Next week I’ll spend some time on it to learn the ins and outs.

With footage that can be stabilized, if you set the filter up properly, the optical stabilizer is fantastic. Much faster and more controllable than Apple’s SmoothCam in my experience.

It’s worth going through the Help files on each filter. Boris have some of the best, most clearly written tech manuals out there.

    All the best,
    Ben

Or do it perfectly and in a matter of seconds in After Effects… 🙂
