Boris XML Transfer Problem
Hey everyone.
Currently using Boris XML Transfer 1.0.3 Trial. When I import the XML into After Effects CS4 the timeline gets built correctly, however, most of the clips are off Timecode wise.
Specifics: FCP 7, AE CS4
– FCP Sequence is 23.976 Pro Res 422 HQ
– Only one clip for video was used but sequence was cut together using subclips.
– Most clips seem to be defaulting to the 01:00:00:00 TC marker from the original clip.
– Imported same XML using Popcorn Island with no such problems…What could be going wrong?

Are you seeing this just with subclips and all subclips?

Yes, the entire movie was cut using subclips made from one original clip. A handful of clips seems to be correct, but 90% seem to be referencing the original clip starting at the 01:00:00:00 Timecode.
IE – First shot is from “Scene 3” subclip. In After Effects the footage used for that shot starts at the 1 hour mark from the original “Full Movie” clip…Then the second shot, also from “Scene 3” subclip, goes back to that same spot on the original clip.
Does that make sense?

It has to do with how AE handles sub clips. Basically it doesn’t.
Though there is not solution or workaround at this time it is looking to be fixed in the next release of XML transfer.
