I’m building a new editing system and I’d like input on what Red 4.3 would like best. A faster processor? Different video? Faster drives? I can spend about another $1000 … what should I do?

Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz Quad Core Processor
    Asus P6T Deluxe Motherboard Skt1366
Boot: 1TB WD1001FALS Western Digital Hard Drive SATAII
    Storage: Raid 0 2x 1TB WD1001FALS WD Drive
    Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64-Bit /w SP2
nVIDIA PNY Quadro FX 1700 512MB Graphics Card
    12GB(6x2GB) DDR3-1600 XMS3 Corsair Triple Channel Ram

    THANKS

    Mark,

this is sort of a loaded question as only you know exactly what you need from your system.

As a general rule of thumb your processor speed and RAM will be important specs on the machine. You’ll also want drives with enough throughput to handle what ever resolution you need to work in.

Depending on if you’ll be using ahost application, working in HD or SD, will you be running more than one application at a time? These will factor in to what you need.

The system specs you listed above should allow you to run Red just fine, but you want to keep in consideration the specs for your host application as well.

If you have more specific questions geared toward your set-up I’m sure you can get a more complete answer.
