    Hi guys.

Just tried the new BCC 6.0 out and got a Critical Error when I tried to apply the BCC Extruded Text Plugin to a solid.

It doens’t matter if I choose “Yes” or “No” in the notification that appears on screen.
The same message appears on the rendered solid.

The comp was PAL Widescreen Square Pixel and OpenGL was turned to “Interactive” in AE.

My system is a Quad Core Q9550 with 8GB RAM, GeForece GTX260, Vista 64bit and Adobe CS4.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting this – first time that we’ve seen such an error but I’m sure we can get to the bottom of it and hopefully arrive at a solution for you.

I suspect that the problem is with Vista 64 and OpenGL but I’m not 100 percent certain so I’m passing this along to engineering who I’m sure will be able to decipher the error message.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

No problem. Thanks for the help.
I just saw that NVidia has released a new driver. The one I got was from February. I’ll update the driver and report again.
If you need more specs about the system just say it.

    Cheers,

    Dino

    Hi Dino,

Well the word from engineering is that it was a simple matter of the code not recognizing the card and that this will be fixed and and update to BCC 6 with support for this video card will be made available next week.

Meanwhile, if you are up for it, please contact me privately and we’ll provide you with an update for the card immediately. You can reach me at peterm@borisfx.com.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

That video card model (GeForce GTX260) wasn’t approved for the initial BCC6 release, but we expect to approve it for a point release. And our expectation is that the BCC 3D Object plugins will work well with that video card.

Clicking the “yes” button in the warning dialogue should enable the plugin but it seems that’s not working. If you contact support@borisfx.com I believe we can easily help you get it working so you can try the 3D Object plugins. When you contact BorisFX support feel free to quote this message and mention my name to help them understand what the issue is right away.

Thank you very much for your help. Both of you.

I’ll wait till next week and download the new version!
I was just using the demo anyway to try it out so I won’t bother you with e-mails since I didnt even buy it yet. The 3D plug-ins are exactly what I need so I wanted to try the demo before buying it, which means I can wait till next week.

Just be sure to update the demo as well. 😉

    Thanks!

    Hi Dino

You should be all set now. We’ve tested in our labs with your card and it seems to be fine. Just download the new trial version (6.0.0-a) and you should be good to go.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
