Boris Red and Blue graphics card
My question is what video card would boris products RED and BLUE, benefit from the most? Looking into a new video card and these are my options.
A Quadro FX4000/4500
or a 6800GT PCI-e SLI config (total of 512 RAM)
Do the products take advantage of the Quadro pro features? Or better to be in a larger RAM/SPEED setup?

Hi Zach,
Definitely the Quadra FX 4000/4500 would be the card of choice. Blue really needs this more than RED but both products will take advantage of the card, albeit for the most part in different ways.

I was just about to ask a similar question so I’ll ask it in this thread. I have a GeForce 8600GTS (significantly more powerful than the 6800 in the previous post) and I was wondering if upgrading to the Quadro FX1700 would give me a boost in performance with Red & BLUE? (the FX4600 is out of my price range)
Stated another way: given that I already own a GeForce 8600GTS and the power of that card, which Quadro FX card would I have to buy to see a noticeable boost in performance when using Boris RED & BLUE?
Do I have to go for a Quadro FX3700 which is $849 (2x the price of the FX1700 and 10x the price of the 8600GTS!) or will the Quadro FX1700 at $449 (still 5x the price of my current 8600) be worth the money? The 8600GTS actually has higher memory bandwidth than the FX1700 which is why I’m worried that I won’t see that much of a difference. I doubt I will see a 5x boost in performance to match the 5x price tag but I understand that you also get greater stability.

Thank you so much. Tell Dirk to tend to business first. I may have spoken to him at NAB 2008 this year. I did ask someone who was involved with Boris BLUE about this at NAB and I wrote down their response on a tiny piece of paper and by the time I got home from Vegas I has lost it. 🙁 Anyway, I’m at a point now where I’m looking to buy so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
